Are you a solid organ or stem cell transplant recipient? Are you a family member or caregiver to a transplant recipient?

Join a national study conducted by the Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program (CDTRP) aiming to understand the experiences of transplant recipients and their families/caregivers from the COVID-19 pandemic and develop strategies to reduce the negative impacts.

Despite vaccination, transplant recipients remain at high risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes. Recipients, families, and caregivers are also at higher risk of experiencing extreme stress and mental health concerns and bearing additional financial burdens. Transplant recipients have been excluded from most studies on COVID because they don't fit well into studies designed for other high-risk groups. This means that information for transplant recipients is missing.

The TREAT-COVID Study will help transplant recipients and their families/caregivers by providing useful information about COVID-19 treatments and issues to policymakers, clinicians, and patients and their families. The project aims to improve decision-making for clinical treatments, help recipients and their families/caregivers understand COVID-19 better, and provide the information needed to improve policies and programs that support transplant recipients and their families.

Please note that for a family member/caregiver wanting to enroll, the associated transplant recipient must be enrolled in the study first.
