Why is this study being done?
The purpose of this study is to understand the long-term effects of COVID-19 on lung health, heart health and mental health in survivors. We are also interested in understanding the health care costs of COVID-19 in survivors.
Who can participate in this study? To participate in this study, you must be:
- 18 years or older and;
- Previously confirmed positive for COVID-19 by a laboratory test.
What are participants required to do in the study? If you are eligible to participate in the study, you will be expected to visit The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute at 3, 6 and 12-months after recovering from COVID-19. At each visit you will:
- Perform breathing tests;
- Have a non-invasive heart imaging test;
- Complete an exercise test on a stationary bicycle and;
- Fill-out questionnaires related to your mental health

The research team will only use your personal information to contact you about potentially participating in this study. Your date of birth is used to determine your eligibility in the study. Your personal information is being collected and managed by the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute Method’s Centre. This survey is being hosted on The Ottawa Hospital web server using a secure, web-based application designed to support data capture for research studies. The Ottawa Hospital web server is located in The Ottawa Hospital data centre.
